Star Fox Ships & Vehicles

Every Star Fox ship and vehicle, from the iconic Arwing to the rare one-off variants. This guide covers every Star Fox vehicle's role, design history, weapon loadout, and which Star Fox games feature it. The Star Fox series has used vehicle variety as a core gameplay differentiator since 1993, and the new Star Fox 2026 keeps that tradition alive.

Star Fox Team Ships

Arwing

Pilot: Fox McCloud, Falco, Slippy, Peppy, Krystal · Debut: Star Fox (1993)
The Arwing is the iconic Star Fox starfighter — a single-pilot space superiority fighter designed by Slippy Toad and built by Cornerian engineering firm Space Dynamics. Capable of atmospheric flight, vacuum combat, and short-range FTL via the Great Fox's launch tubes. Standard armament: twin laser cannons (upgradable to twin and hyper laser), six-shot smart bomb magazine, and barrel-roll deflection plating. The Arwing has been redesigned for nearly every Star Fox game; the 2026 Switch 2 model is the most heavily armored and detailed version yet.

Landmaster

Pilot: Star Fox team · Debut: Star Fox 64 (1997)
A heavily armored Cornerian ground tank capable of a brief hover-jump and barrel-roll deflection. The Landmaster appears in Star Fox 64, Assault, Zero, and 2026. In Star Fox Assault, the Landmaster is playable in multiplayer arenas; in Star Fox 2026, the Landmaster joins the online multiplayer roster as a heavyweight class.

Blue-Marine

Pilot: Fox McCloud · Debut: Star Fox 64 (Aquas mission)
A one-mission underwater submersible introduced for the Aquas stage in Star Fox 64. The Blue-Marine fires homing torpedoes and a flashlight beam, has limited oxygen, and only appears in Star Fox 64 and its remakes (3D and 2026).

Gyrowing

Pilot: Fox McCloud · Debut: Star Fox Zero (2016)
A slow-moving helicopter introduced in Star Fox Zero for stealth and puzzle missions. Comes with a deployable robot drone called Direct-i. The Gyrowing has not appeared in any other Star Fox game; widely considered the lowest-energy vehicle in the series.

Walker

Pilot: Fox McCloud · Debut: Star Fox 2 (1995/2017), reintroduced in Zero
The Arwing's transformation into a four-legged walking mech. Designed for atmospheric stages and tight-quarters combat. The Walker mode was core to Star Fox 2 and revived for Star Fox Zero. Star Fox 2026 does not include Walker mode (it's a faithful Star Fox 64 remake; Walker post-dates SF64).

Star Wolf Ships

Wolfen

Pilot: Wolf O'Donnell, Leon, Pigma, Andrew, Panther · Debut: Star Fox 64
The Star Wolf team's mirror-image Arwing. Faster top speed, weaker armor, more aggressive maneuvering profile. The Wolfen has appeared as both an enemy fighter and a player-pilotable vehicle (in multiplayer modes of Assault, Zero, and Star Fox 2026's online battles).

Capital Ships

Great Fox

Crew: Star Fox team + ROB 64 · Debut: Star Fox (1993)
The Star Fox team's mothership and mobile base. Manufactured for Fox's father James and inherited by Fox after James's death. Capable of FTL transit between planets, Arwing launching, and limited point-defense. The Great Fox has been redesigned multiple times across the series; in Star Fox 2026 it serves as the campaign hub and online multiplayer lobby.
