Announced May 6, 2026 in a surprise Nintendo Direct, the new Star Fox game is a full-scale remake of Star Fox 64 built natively for Nintendo Switch 2. It keeps the rail-shooter soul of the 1997 classic while overhauling visuals, character designs, voice acting, and the orchestral score. For the first time in series history, Star Fox now has online multiplayer — 4-vs-4 battles for up to eight players.
